Amy Young, Music Minister


Amy Young serves as Roanoke Valley Cathedral of Praise’s Music Minister. Amy is a life-long member of the Church of God, and as a preacher’s kid, she has lived in Florida and several places in Virginia. Amy joined Cathedral of Praise in 1992 and has been actively involved in ministry since then. She previously taught the toddlers on Wednesday nights, helped with music in children’s church, sang on the Praise and Worship team, and was a member of the JGYM youth staff. Amy currently serves as the sanctuary choir director, coordinator for praise and worship, pianist and as Women’s Ministry president.

In high school, Amy sang in regional choirs, accompanied Salem High School Chorale and was runner-up for the 1990 Virginia State Teen Talent in the female solo category. She attended Lee College (now Lee University) until 1990 as a music education major, touring with Campus Choir and singing with Choral Union.

In 1991, Amy married Tim Young. Tim attended Lee College and graduated from Radford University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He is a programmer/analyst/project manager for Advance Auto Parts. Tim is also actively involved in ministry at Cathedral of Praise previously serving in the Children’s Ministry and currently as an Administrative Deacon, as a member of the “Cheese Crew” and in the Audio/Visual ministry. In 1998, they were blessed with the birth of Sarah and in 2001 with the birth of Jacob.

Amy enjoys spending time with her family, especially playing Mario Party 7, reading and preparing new recipes, scrap booking and collecting Donald Ducks.
