Charlie and Lisa Walters direct the Cathedral of Praise Singles and
Young Married Ministry. They met and were married at Cary Church of God in Cary, NC. They are celebrated their
fifth anniversary on April 6, 2007. After moving from the Raleigh/ Durham area in 2003, Charlie left a sales career
to attend seminary. Feeling the call to minister through counseling, he has completed his masters degree in human relations
and is currently pursuing the Ph.D. in Counseling at Liberty University.
His future goals are to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit into full-time state licensed counseling, as well as,
to teach at the college level. He is doing both right now, working in the LU counseling lab, and as a graduate teaching
assistant. Lisa maintains a busy pace as Sales/Marketing Manager of TCM in Lynchburg, VA. She is also a 1994 graduate
of Lee University.
Lisa and Charlie live in Lynchburg
with their four year old son, C.J. They started A.L.I.V.E. ministry at RVCP to mentor young professionals and young
married couples. The name stands for ‘adults living in victory everyday’. Lisa was among the founders
of Cary Church of God’s singles ministry, helping to grow it from 12 to 70 members through small group ministry and
activities. Charlie learned through his tenure as a student in Chapel Hill, NC that few churches were helping those
just forming new Christian relationships. They joined their efforts to mentor singles, single parents, and young couples
in spiritual development at Cathedral of Praise.
This
year, they will host a second annual retreat focusing on finances, and will host other activities and fundraisers that build
up people in the Roanoke Valley in a “most holy faith”. They also hope to squeeze in some playtime with
their dog, Dutchess, and a few road trips to see the Tarheels.
